Uselessly screaming to the heavens
The acid attack on teachers and schoolgirls in Afghanistan literally makes me shake with rage. My muscles are clenched, and my immediate urge is to murder everyone who wants to keep women from access to education. I want to find the men who did this and simply beat them until they are flattened and dead. I just want to stomp on them.
This is why I cannot go into international politics. I could never meet with any of these people and bring about any good. If I were to sit face to face with someone like that, one of two things would happen: 1) I would actually kill him. 2) I would restrain myself from killing him but speak with such vitriol that I would merely prove to him that educated women stand up for themselves and resist persecution, leading him to become more entrenched in his desire to oppress them. Nothing good would happen.
Here is my modest but clearly impracticable solution: The U.S. should arrange to kidnap every female in Afghanistan and bring them to America. Every single one. Keep mothers with their daughters, of course, and find them host families here. Keep them for five years, and make sure the girls go to public schools for those five years, and the women have jobs and go to night school. See how the fuckers feel about going five years without any women at all. Then give them a choice: either we will send back your women, and they will now have more education than you have ever given them, and they will demand more, and you must agree to give them the rights they have grown used to in the last five years, or you don't get them back. You have to go forever with no women. Fuck you.
