If you haven't yet, please update your friends. We've been going through a lot of line-up changes these past couple weeks, so lots of new characters and drops and what not. Stay on top of this. We've done most of the work for you, all you have to do is run the friend add (all the links in the comm userinfos should be up-to-date and correct although we're still in the process of switching things over to the new mod account). For those of you that are still confused about how it works, there are no adverse effects by running the whole list over and over: it'll simply say that you've "added" people you already have along with the new journals.
I'd also like to direct new members or muns that haven't done this yet to this older entry: COMMENT PAGES OF DOOM. Read it and don't weep! It's just a way of making it easier to read/reply/lurk on the comment pages of your character journals. Check that for more information.
But that reminded me of another helpful tip for everyone: using the "tracking" option. You've probably seen this and wondered what the bloody hell it is, buuut it is in fact one of the more useful features on LJ.
When you're reading an entry or comment or what have you, you'll see a thumb tack icon (). The "Track This" option comes in handy when you're in group posts or in a thread where people don't directly reply to comments. When you track a post, it'll send notifications (to your e-mail or inbox, whatever settings you choose) every time someone replies to that entry or thread.
