I'm sure you guys are sick of the slew of mod posts I've been sending your way, but there's some things we need to go over before tomorrow. Some of which are questions that I have been asked.
DO NOT TL;DR THIS IF YOU ARE PARTICIPATING.
First! Make sure you tag things accordingly on both the main community and on your journals - as this is unlike our Anniversary Event in that this is a separate universe than the one we usually dabble in. So tagging things will make everything easier to find (especially if we bring this back for Christmas). The tag on the main comm that I ask you to please use is !event: harry potter. It's already on the list of tags so all you need to do is add it to your post.
Second! The event will officially begin SATURDAY, OCTOBER 16TH at 12:00 AM PST and end on SUNDAY, OCTOBER 24th at 12:00 AM PST. This means the event will begin in roughly five four hours.
Third! For those of you uninterested in joining in, regular threads and journal entries may still be put up (which is another important reason to remember to use the tags - to differentiate). But if you are participating, I ask that your character firmly stays in the Harry Potter universe until the week ends to avoid confusion.
Fourth! Not the most knowledgeable in the bunch about the Harry Potter universe? Need the advise of a veteran Harry Potter fan? Use this post to ask questions and seek help or resources!
Fifth! This thing about blogs. Technically Muggle electronics cannot function in Hogwarts, so students having computers is majorly stretching it. Instead...how about social networking through enchanted journals? Like Tom Riddle's Diary, wotwot. Works basically the same except for you lot probably don't know what the hell is the internet is unless you're a Muggleborn.
Sixth! As for our relation to Harry Potter canon...the events in the books took place from roughly 1991-1998. Our game takes place in 2010. You do that math, kids. Harry and his mates aren't going to be attending school with you. Sorrysorry. o/ *EDIT*: Also. Their kids? For our purposes, they don't exist.
Seventh! As this is a separate universe from our regular one, the events that happen during this week shouldn't have an influence on your characters once the week ends. Well. I mean, unless you want it to? But I figured that would be just a taaad difficult to explain. Unless Britannia Angel spiked the punch at a party everyone went to. It's all up to you really. But know that there's no expectations for you to tie this into regular game play.
Eighth! QUIDDITCH. How is it going to go down? Weeeell, given our history of group posts and sports, if we attempt a group thread it has a 90% chance of dying. So I suggest action/interactive posts on the Quidditch Captain's journals for games. As for who will play who...would you like me to pick in a random draw or do you wanna pick for yourselves?
Ninth! Well, if you noticed, not every professor position was filled by you all. SO. We will essentially have stand-ins so you can have an actual professor to refer to. These stand-ins are characters that are not taken or characters that have gone MIA. A list of these stand-ins and what class they are teaching will be up soon! I'll put it up here and on THE ALMIGHTY LIST.
Here is this list! (NPC = Non-Player Characters)
Ancient Runes - Nafretiri
Arithmancy - Im Yong Soo (NPC)
Astronomy - Heracles Karpusi (NPC)
Care of Magical Creatures - Olivier Mani (probably NPC)
Charms - Johanna Kingsly
Defence Against the Dark Arts - Sadiq Adnan
Divination - Atthis Petallides
Flying/Quidditch Ref - Antonio Fernandez Carriedo (NPC)
Herbology - Ukraine (NPC)
History of Magic - Rome (NPC)
Muggle Studies - Roderich Edelstein
Potions - Francis Bonnefoy (NPC)
Transfiguration - Grace D'Isney
I think that's about it. But like I said before, if you have any other questions, ask here! And I hope you guys enjoy the week! o/
