I took the GRE today. I did exceedingly well on the math, which would absolutely be great if I were intending to be an engineer or something. But I'm not. Alas.
All I have to say is, the verbal isn't hard because they use fancy words. Mostly, they don't. It's hard because the kinds of relationships they ask you to make are INSANE. For instance, what the hell is the opposite of hull?
I'll have to see how I did on the writing. If I did well enough I won't worry so much about my verbal score. If it sucked, then I'll be taking the test again.
::sigh:: I hate verbal sections of standardized tests. They act like language is objective, but it's not, and so I always get things wrong because of this connotation or that idiosyncratic use.
Still, though, it's nice to know after all these years, I can still do math. And a lot of it is logic/problem solving, which is quite important to philosophy, so it's not totally irrelevant.
