.. I've just been too distracted by other things to continue scanning in the many, many other books.
Speaking of which, the newest additions to the collection arrived today: a 23-volume set of (almost entirely matched) Patrick O'Brian novels. That's the 20 novels + 1 posthumous partial of the Aubrey/Maturin series (from whence we get the movie, Master and Commander) and two other novels of sea life.
They were in nearly perfect condition. With many of them, the binding looked as if the book had never been openned. Except in one case, where the glue at the flysheet of the beginning of the book had almost completely cracked through. I imagine I could take it to a bookbinder for repair: it's otherwise undamaged from what I tell.
One of the next projects for the house -- and one which, like several others, we should engage in soon -- is replacing the Ivar shelving with built-ins. We're just about at capacity right now, so additional footage would be useful, but also the Ivar is by and large a tad too deep. Just shaving off 2-3 inches would open up a great amount of space without forcing any books to stick out beyond their neighbors. (Any, that is, except for certain oversized books.)
