actual post about the necronomicon coming when i've finally slipped beyond the wall of sleep for a reasonable length of time.

unrelated! (or possibly not, i suppose that's not my call) i've grown to really despise the cliche of writing sherlock holmes fanfaction and having it be all BUT IT'S REALLY MONSTERS/CTHULHU/DIRTY HEATHENS AND NOT A RATIONAL EXPLANATION AT ALL!
it's trite, stupid, shows no real understanding of doyle's detective and, honestly, usually incredibly poorly written.
(there are some exceptions... but few.)
it ranks right up there with writing a 'cthulhu mythos'* story and having it feature lovecraft confronting hos own creations which *CHOKE* turn out to be real!
bad writing exists.
bad ideas exist.
and when they come together in such stupid ways i'm reminded how much i just despise the concepts, workings, and entitled nonsense of fandom.

(*the 'cthulhu mythos' is a stupid idea that is entirely counter to lovecraft's actual ideas and was entirely made up by derleth. which is why seeing people yammer about it while also shitting on derleth is double stupid.)
