I once saw a picture of a woman who'd undergone a full face transplant. She looked like an illustration from a "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" book. On the other hand, she previously had had a huge jagged hole where most of her face was supposed to be, and so she was happy. I was still a bit freaked, but was happy for her. On the other hand, I can't imagine being a face donor. . . I'm signed up to be an organ donor, but I'd still like to be recognizable for some kind of funeral service. I dunno.

Yeah she was bitten by a horse wasn't she? I think she was English but I don't know if that's the same woman.

I'm not an organ donor but I donate blood every chance I get. I have this thing where I want to go into the Earth whole. No cremation, nothing missing, etc. I can't justify it logically.

My mom feels the same as you. I can understand it, but I also can't shake the thought that if I needed an organ, or if someone I loved did, I would appreciate one being available. I'd like to be cremated, for other illogical reasons.

The woman I was thinking of was American, and got shot in the face.

You can always donate all your organs before being cremated. That's what I'm going to do.

That's what I meant. I'd like to do that, provided all my organs were actually usable.

I have it on my donor card that they should take anything they can use.
