What To Expect When You’re Defecting by
ohmyfae. Prompto & Cor gen with loads of other characters appearing; ~44500 words; Gen. Summary: Twenty-three year old Cor Leonis infiltrates Niflheim's Magitech Development Facility in search of clues to their plans against Lucis.
What he finds is a child.
Oh, this is so delightful. I spent a few days reading it, at home or on the bus or between classes, and it made everything so much nicer. It’s good as dad!Cor fic, as he struggles with baby and toddler Prompto when he can barely look after himself. But it becomes incredibly memorable and lovely as Prompto grows up in the Citadel. The cast of characters grows exponentially as Prompto grows up, and there are wonderful moments with them all. Lonely, desperate-to-please Iggy who ends up semi-adopted by Cor himself; Nyx who recognises a fellow outsider in Prompto’s Niflheim features, who Prompto develops an enormous crush on; Aranea who visits for the Empire but throws herself into being a tourist; Gladio and Noct and Regis and Loqi and LUNA, omg Luna. The feelings Prompto develops for her take a while but they’re delightfully inevitable.
This veers between slice-of-life, and super-feelings-y-hurt-comfort, and an almost Alanna vibe as Prompto grows up intending to be a Crownsguard - not for being a soldier like his dad, but because Noct needs good people having his back. It’s also, quietly, an AU where everything is much less tragic. It happens off-screen, mostly, because Prompto’s a teenager not a Crownsguard, but basically Ardyn and the Emperor disappear early and the Empire surrenders. So you get to just enjoy people who like each other, and awkward teenage hijinks, and Prompto getting into fights and Cor doing a really bad job of disapproving :D <333
The Accursed Knitter series by
spacehopper. Ardyn and bros gen; ~2700 words; Gen. Summary: For many centuries the royals of Lucis have been receiving horrific knitwear of mysterious origin.
Noct finds out where it came from.
There are two short fics in this series and they’re both hysterical - although the first, with Iggy telling Noct stories about the royals of Lucis and Noct’s ugly Solstice jumpers, is a lot cuter than the Episode-Prompto era Prompto one. Both completely fit Ardyn’s trolling-old-man vibe and it’s a delight.
A Matter of Honor by
ohmyfae. Ignis/Gladio; ~2000 words; Teen; dude being a creeper. Summary: Gladio duels for Ignis' honor. Noct and Prompto take bets.
Gladio being so fucking good at his job is hotter than I expected, haha. Plus there’s a nice idea about Ignis being a bit of a middle-class upstart. Delightful - and omg Noct is totally man of the match <3
Six Ways From Sunday by
caelum. Noct and the bros and Regis gen; ~19 900 words; Explicit; non-con, gang rape, roofies. Summary: He fumbles with the tablet, trying to turn the video off, but he's shaking and his fingers keep missing, so he finally just shoves it away from him, back towards Gladio. He feels sick to his stomach. He doesn't remember seeing any of them with a camera or phone in hand last night, doesn't remember being recorded, but there it is online for the whole world to see. All of Eos is going to see the Crown Prince of Lucis getting fucked six ways from Sunday.

The summary alone will basically tell you whether you want to read this? Because either that speaks to your id, or it doesn’t. I WILL say that is is an absolutely fantastic example of this kind of h/c, and Noct’s stoicism broke my heart and made me want to scream at him and everyone around him. I love how angry he is. This kind of fic is why I have an “aroused or heartbroken?” icon and it’s so fucking good.

This is a tiny little slice-of-life ficlet but it makes me really happy. It’s super cute (Noct wants to make Ignis a pie for once, instead of the other way around!) and very IC - Prompto’s taking Home Ec because Noct is, and also so they can be surrounded by girls. Noct’s thought about how “one of Noctis’ best strategies for getting others to do things for him is to just let them” is perfect.

He’s ridiculously gorgeous and sexy, obvs, but also tired and soft and it’s a beautiful use of light. He’s in the sunlight! I cry. Because beautiful fix-its give me sads about canon. But it’s still lovely.

This repays full-view. So cute. I love Thor’s pyjama bottoms, and Valkyrie and Banner feeling like they know each other from somewhere, and Loki pretending he’s not really hanging out with them, he just happens to be here, while Thor offers him food. D’awwww.
