So, I was meant to go to the birthday party of one of my best friends tonight, and then all the trains were cancelled. I am not feeling terribly happy. And this is a depressing time of year for many of us in the northern hemisphere (and many in the southern one, too - fuck forest fires). Solution? Obvious.

You are brilliant, full stop. I don't know if I've ever met anyone as multi-talented as you are. Your flair for language is astonishing - you have the ability to make the most mundane anecdote a tale worth reading. Your fics are a verbal feast, impossible to stop reading once started. Over the years, you've written some of my favorite stories in fandom.

I also admire your passion for life, your dedication, your courage in training for crisis intervention, your determination to keep on creating and evolving even when your body or your demons threaten to bring you to your knees. Your marriage and sense of community are striking and enviable. I'm just damned impressed that you manage to pack so much life into your life.

I hope you get as much pleasure from your many talents as you give to others.
