Is it weird that I want to give William Hague a hug?

So remember how I said I was off to Norwich last night? Yeah... as it turns out, not so much. I am usually very good at trains due to excessive practice, but when I fail it’s pretty epic. :( I am going today - practically now, in fact - instead, rather more expensively! I shall still be back in time for Violet’s birthday Thursday though. And then ( Read more... )

I'm glad you like Amsterdam as much as I do. :) It's great.

I seriously had SUCH a good time! Which is kind of amazing since I went with my parents... my housemate Violet went on a lesbian-summer-holiday student trip with some friends of ours last summer and we had a little squee about our enjoyment of it last night :)

Glad you had such a great time in Amsterdam!

IKWYM: I feel so, so much for William and Ffion Hague. Several colleagues have gone right down in my estimation for calling that statement a stunt. Obviously it's not the wisest of moves, but it's honest. It says "enough hurt". They deserve to be left the hell alone. OMG a Minister decides to save the public purse some money by sharing a twin with an adviser, and even if it was what the press made it, this is 2010, grow the hell up journos?? *srsly WTF*

And to hear this evening that David Cameron's father has died: again, poor family: highs and lows. Florence's birth must be bittersweet for them because of Ivan, and now this.

Sadtimes.

:D Thanks!

I KNOW. All those snide leaks from various ministers and I'm like SHUT UP. SHUT UP INTERNET ABOUT HIS SLEEPING HABITS. AND HIS BASEBALL CAP. I'm not a fan of his politics but I do feel terribly sorry for him. And Cameron too - like you said, highs and lows! I suppose it's good I can feel emotion towards that Cabinet that doesn't boil down to "everyone with a blue tie needs to PIPE DOWN."

I have family in Paignton too! Small world! And that is all the vaguely interesting commentary I have...

Huh - it is indeed! My friend creatore_magico's from Torquay and worked in Paignton for a while. For somewhere that seemed very much the backend of beyond when I was waiting for my train (and feeling very bitter about the world and wanting London and burlesque and sushi) a surprising number of people seem connected to it!

His politics are unpleasant... but my crunchy shell of political cynicism hides a marshmallow centre! Although I judge Terry Jones, that American pastor who was going to burn the Koran, SO HARD. I mean I judge him anyway, but his reaction to Obama saying he hoped "better angels" would make Jones reconsider was "LOL it's God who communicates with us, not angels. That seems to be the reaction of someone who doesn't understand Christianity very well."

Right, because angels aren't messengers. That's not a huge part of their mythology, I am just a silly atheist. It's not like there are any famed examples of angels bringing messages for humans from God... um, aside from the bleeding ANGEL GABRIEL?!

*headdesks forever*

Also no, I'm not now :( I failed at sending the confirmation email before I went so I returned to a message saying 'apologies, you're out.' I am foolish! But I am also working on A SECRET THING that is making me feel better.
