(I'll probably post this in a few places, so you may see it a few times)
intro: My phone is 4 yrs old and I want a smartphone.
1) Android or iPhone? Why do I want one over the other?
2) LTE- how much do I care for it on a smartphone?
3) For android, the nexus phone seems to have bad battery life, but anything else is going to have modified android (which helps the battery life but means they can hurt it, and it takes longer for them to let it upgrade) how much do I care?
background:
4 years ago last june, I switched over to a sprint employee referral plan, which is $30/month. (I have no idea who I used as the referring employee anymore) Now I think it is time to get a smartphone. I can keep my plan with sprint and upgrade, though I'll need to add the "smartphone data" $10 fee. I can also potentially upgrade to a premium version of my plan, that will include LTE, for another $10 + the $10 for the "smartphone data". From what I can tell, this is still equal or cheaper than the prepaids, cheaper when you count the niceties. (dan & I talk a whole lot more now that we're in our year of long distance :( )
Since the iPhone 4s doesn't have LTE, it can be on the cheaper plan.
We're also considering what a family plan would cost, though we haven't looked that hard yet and family plans usually want all the area codes to be the same and while they are both from the same area, mine is an alternate area code for the area.
