This bill shows how the US political system is bent around lobbyists. The Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) is only in the interests of large media owners, like the MPAA. In a clear case of over-reaching, the law claims to attempt to deal with piracy in other countries by criminalizing actions in the US. Basically, punish everyone for criminals you can't catch.
Brilliant. No, I mean stupid.
Policy decisions today often form on these warped views. If you watched the news on Wisconsin, you would have seen a meltdown over unions. What you wouldn't see is what won that particular election: traditional moderate conservative values. Read a
policeman's account of leaders turning against their own people because they wanted the bubble to keep growing.
Corporations are only interested in their own profits, shortsighted as they might be. A business will sue their
own insurance company for their own crimes. Government and laws cannot be so shortsighted. People must come before profit. SOPA cares only for the dying corporations.
