When I was a kid we had these books in the house. They were called the Book of Lists, two of them, from different years. They were like the old Guinness Book of World Records books. They were filled with facts and trivia.
Making lists were informative because you really had to research and in the case of personal lists, you had to dig down deep and weigh things in your heart. It was like a self-definition. These are the things you like. These are the things you don't. These are the things that make you go WHEEEE!
Then High Fidelity came along years later and reaffirmed my love of lists.
So that's why I make lists. It's an intellectual pursuit really.
