Caught an afternoon showing of Incredible Hulk with
skronk yesterday. I enjoyed it. I think everyone else said it best. Much better than the first one, not quite as good as Iron Man. CC and I were talking the other day about the plans to bring the Avengers out in 2011, with a few more supporting characters getting films before then. Which brought up casting. Brad Pitt was bandied about as a possible Captain America. There was mention that Matthew McConaughey was rumored to be considered, which would be a HUGE mistake in my opinion. What characters should show up? CC mentioned Vison, to which I replied that I thought Alan Tudyk could do a good job, either as voice or the character itself, depending on how they end up doing him. CC mentioned it was funny that I went to Firefly, because he thought the Operative from Serenity would make a decent vision. And that's when the most perfect casting for Captain America hit me right in the face.
Nathan Fillion.
Seriously. A little bulking up, and I think he'd make a PERFECT Cap. He's got the look AND the charisma to pull off a role like that. ESPECIALLY if they go the rumored route of having the Captain America film take place during WWII, ending with him being frozen in ice and setting up the opening shot of Avengers perfectly. Fillion as a WWII-era Cap would be absolutely fucking SPLENDID. Letters to Hollywood are being drafted.
In other news, housework has been done this week, mostly little details and organizational things, and mostly by
megasus4. I DID mow the lawn and hang a shelf and help with some little bits, but she gets the lion's share of the credit for how good the house looks.
The Merkur Classic safety razor that was one of my gifts for Father's Day arrived in the mail yesterday, and I finally got to use it tonight. Wow. It was an amazingly pleasant experience, and the only bleeding came from when I scraped off two little scabs from where I nicked myself shaving with my old dull blade on Monday. The safety razor offers a remarkable amount of precision and control, as well as being CRAZY cheaper to keep blades for. For the cost of a 4-pack of cartridges, I can get 30 blades, with each blade providing almost as many comfortable shaves as a full pack of cartridges. Also, I've been getting better at the actual generation of lather with my brush and shave soap, but tonight I just NAILED it. The mix of water and soap and blending was just on, and the minute I started to brush it onto my face I knew I'd done it just right. I never though shaving was going to tun into something I'd have an "On my god, so the other day I shaved...." type of conversation about, but wow. Thanks to
rushputin for getting the ball rolling there.
Work proceeds. Some minor annoyances, but overall I still enjoy my job. Our new World Music Show (on which I'm Executive Producer) is going well, and sounds great. Page Wilson, the host for Out Of The Blue Radio Revue, told me there'd be a "thank you" in my box for all of the set-up/archiving work I do for his show each week, and I walked in to find $100 worth of store credit to Plan 9 sitting in my box waiting for me. That was unexpected and totally awesome.
Keira proceeds to add ranks in Adorableness, wanting to kiss Animated Lugnut everytime she sees him on my conputer screen (It's currently my desktop image). She comes up to me with a Transformer and says "Car? ch-ch-ch-ch (her version of the transforming noise)" when she wants me to transform them into vehicle mode. And even held up one of her Chinese nesting dolls and said "Car? ch-ch-ch-ch." She seemed a little disppointed when I told her babushkas don't transform. But the absolute cutest thing she did was come up and ask me to turn Lockdown into a robot (robot? ch-ch-ch-ch), and after I had done so, said "Dank yoo!" and started walking off, and as she walked away said, completely unbidden, "wove yoo....daddy...." Awwwww. She'll say "Wove yoo" if you say it to her first, but that was the first time she's said it without being prompted.
That's about all that's new with me. How are you?
