Today I overheard to girls talking on the bus about a friend of mine- not that they knew more nor where they even aware of the fact I'm quite fond of the person they were talking about. Probably were I sitting any closer to them, I would have made a comment, but because I was not, I just their and let their conversation evolve, listening in on it. They were talking about a friend of mine, therefore I have all the right in the world to listen.
Which leads me to say: Never say anything less than complimentary in public about anyone.
It is amazing how one can use all respect for a person (even one they don't know) with a single sentence- wait, not even a sentence- the tone of voice used to say what might be normally the most innocent set of words. I am normally one to give a person the benefit of doubt, trust their heart, &c., but if you give me reason to loose respect for you, it's pretty dang hard to gain it back. I try not to judge people on what they where, assume that they might accidentally give the wrong airs or something, but if you make me question my normally very strong faith in humanity I loose all my faith in you. End of story.
Look at today. Look at all the disasters that humanity has forced upon itself. I would have hoped that we, as a people, would be beyond such medieval attitudes. Yes, girl on the bus, I believe your mindset is medieval. You don't know who I am nor shall you ever read this, but I remember you face and I remember your voice and if I were to ever talk to you, I know that I think less of you than your average idiot.
Humanity, silly silly humanity. You make me weep.
