Happy 2007!
Just the usual Christmas family fiasco. Too much food, & trying to make conversation with people I only see once a year & don't really like.
Dad got me new summer bike gloves, & DVD's (Hex season 2, Anne of Green Gables, Bonnie Raitt & Friends). Mum got me a new water filter & chiller, & a pair of shoes (I went & got these myself with her debit card). She also got me a dress that would have been lovely on a 17 year old, & yet another watch. The dress was an immediate 'no way', but I hadn't been going to say anything about the watch (to give some background, I have 2 watches - my dive watch that I wear every day, & a pretty little Christan Bernard watch that was a gift grom her about 25 years ago that I wear when something more dressy is called for. She gave me a watch last year too, & I never wore it) but then she told me what it cost - $190! So I told her she should take it back, as I'd never wear it. Then I had 15 minutes of her trying to talk me into it. But there's no way I'd wear it, so I stood firm. I think she's keeping it herself.
New Years did nothing much. Just dinner at the Time & Tide (the pub 5 minutes walk from home) then home. Didn't even stay up for the fireworks.
So now I'm back at work. Yawn.
