Bought a new sleeping bag from Blacks in their sale - the drawstring on the carrying bag is already frayed and useless.
Got to Glasgow without problems, only to find the subway trains were out of service. Had to bother Kody to come pick me up from central Glasgow.
Got to the flat to find I'd inadvertently caused drama on LJ. Spent the night considering abandoning the account.
Woke up the next morning to find my laptop's screen was fucked - after perusing HP's rubbish support site, I've found that they use a flat-rate repair system - only problem is that the flat rate is £249 (and this is before using the 60p/min premium rate out-of-warranty support line to organise the repair). Conveniently, their website doesn't even acknowledge that this model - nay, range of laptop even exists, so £249 is complete guesswork - while it might be less, I won't be surprised if it's even more.
H-con was good - saw people I haven't in a while, played some Guitar Hero (which is a rarity). Rushed exit however, and again Kody had to pick me up from central Glasgow.
Good evening / morning, but going to bed late meant I missed the chance to say bye to Ishi and Chiyo by waking up late.
Left late to head back to Derby, and that wasn't without mishap;
- train was late into Edinburgh, so nearly missed the train to Newcastle;
- got on the train to Derby in Newcastle only to find my railcard and ticket were missing;
- looked like a complete dick pleading with the train manager to let me travel without paying out for another full-price open single ticket, going by a credit card receipt I'm glad I didn't throw away;
- got back to find that I've left my portable HDD (with all my work on, conveniently) in Glasgow
All in all: H-con, great - everything else, pants. Everything that could go wrong has gone wrong.
Sets the precedent for the rest of the year, as I can see everything going downhill very quickly.
Thanks to Kody / Chris for the borrowing of floor space.
