Totally stolen from
mylodon and
iansmomesq, with their blessing. I think. *grin*
1. List your top 10 celebrity crushes. (I could tell from the beginning this was likely to be difficult...)
2. Put all of them in order of your admiration for them. (So not possible. Within the top five or so, they're practically equal. Especially the top 3.)
3. Say why you admire them and which movie/show/thing it was that hooked you.
4. Supply photos for said people. (Only one per, right? *sigh*)
5. Tag five people. ( I won't tag anyone, since I wasn't tagged. Do the meme at your leisure, and share the pretty. *Grin*)
Bloom, Orlando. As if the man needed an introduction. I loved Legolas long before the movies, and didn't appreciate the actor for himself until Will Turner, and was probably entirely smitten by the time there was Troy...One of the things I admire most about him is the incredible gentility and kindness he shows his fans, even the off-kilter or slightly scary ones. It must get really wearisome, but there seems to be a truly beautiful spirit behind the equally beautiful smile. And you've gotta love the dimples, at least I do.
Gruffudd, Ioan. I first noticed him in The Forsyte Saga, as I missed the first go-round when Hornblower was on TV...but I didn't NOTICE him until I saw Hornblower, and from that point I said...oh wait, wasn't he Lancelot? and wasn't he the architect in Forsyte Saga? and wouldn't I gladly jump overboard in petticoats to rescue him if he were floating by? *grin* And I've been helpless ever since, though I do have some reservations at the moment about the wisdom in shutting down one's biggest fan site. Seems some middle ground could have been reached to placate Alice AND keep from alienating the fan base. Can't argue with him for wanting peace and happiness at home though, and in his place, who's to say I wouldn't have done the same? Plus, smile-eyes-curls-WELSH!
McGregor, Ewan. He has more mischief in one eyelash than most people manage their entire lives, and he made Obi-Wan Kenobi the Greatest Jedi of the Age. He's the best thing about the prequels (though admittedly that's not hard if one's willing to overlook Qui-Gon), he has an incredible smile (I see the beginnings of a theme...) and he's very dedicated to his family. Who can argue with that?
Bamber, Jamie. He's a lovely Archie Kennedy, and though I'd walk right past him to get to Hornblower (sorry,
mylodon, I'll leave him for you), he's also a right amazing Lee Adama, and he's got a lot of brains, which is a very attractive thing regardless of the muscles and the blue eyes above them. He also seems like a genuinely decent guy, which is a good thing to hold onto.
Jackman, Hugh. What I like to call the triple threat: he sings, he dances, he acts. And he's tall and gorgeous. Can't really remember when it started, but I loved him in Kate and Leopold, but there's nothing to beat seeing him in person on stage as Peter Allen in Boy from Oz. *whew*
Mortensen, Viggo. Yet another Renaissance Man--he acts, he writes, he paints, he takes stunning photographs, he looks good barefoot. And as much as I thought originally he was nothing like the Aragorn I pictured from reading the Ring Trilogy, now there is no one else I see or hear in the part.
Depp, Johnny. The man has cheekbones that could cut like a knife. And he doesn't play by the rules, which I envy even if I can't exactly admire. He also plays a mean guitar, for which I have a serious soft spot. I think Chocolat was the movie where I first appreciated all the above qualities.
Firth, Colin. There is no adaptation of Pride and Prejudice beyond the 95 BBC/AE 6 parter, and it has everything to do with the way he was Darcy and Jennifer Ehle was Lizzy. I understand other adaptations have their proponents, and the David Rintoul/Elizabeth Garvey version is also good, but nothing and no one is going to convince me that any version is better than The Look. Also--dimples! Curls! (Theme!)
Skywalker, Luke and Leia. Wait. I suppose, Hamill, Mark, and Fisher, Carrie, but I adored these two so long as their characters that nothing else that happened in their careers matters. Therefore, putting them in here is kinda cheating, as it's the characters, and not the actors I love, but I couldn't ignore my very first (kindergarten!) celebrity crush pair to round out the list.
Runners up: Liam Neeson, Hugh Dancy, Billy Crudup, Josh Strickland, Jeremy Kushnier, Keith Lockhart (the conductor, not the baseball player), Eric Bana, Edward Petherbridge (but only as Lord Peter, it's the Skywalker problem), Robert Redford (principled! and weatherbeaten), Alan Alda (funny!).
Yes, there are a lot of pale-skinned, light-eyed, slender, dark curly-haired blokes in there. So were several of my past boyfriends. What can I say, I run true to form. I'm also absolutely positive there are people I've forgotten, but it's late and we just watched Blood Diamond and my brain is fried and I still have to work tomorrow. *sigh*
