*sigh* Mondays just keep arriving, don't they?

So, my multiverse fic is...started.  Which is good, I suppose, as it's supposed to be posted tomorrow.  (Dear brain, I would appreciate it if you would cough up the rest of my story now, ok?)  I haven't gotten to go through and really read any of the ones posted so far, but there were a few prompts in there I was really hoping someone would pick up, so we'll see.

I've started my application for the masters' program, have to work on the essay today (Dear brain, I would appreciate it if you would let me be articulate, concise, and persuasive today, thanks.)  and have contacted all but one of my reference requests, the other being my sort-of boss who isn't in today.  *Sigh*  It's a gorgeous day out there, I wish I wasn't here either, but there's this pesky thing called a salary that I seem to need...

Reunion was awesome, a lot more fun than I expected given that none of my roommates or absolute closest friends were there.  I saw people I haven't really even thought about in years, but it was a blast.  Not so great for getting over my cold, as 5th year reunioners are apparently relegated to having their events in tents and courtyards instead of say, dining halls, but I felt pretty and social and even survived wearing my contacts three nights in a row, which I generally try to avoid when coldish.  It was  a real relief to see how many people were in the same place as I am, looking seriously at where they're working and what they're doing, going back to school, looking at moving, etc.  Makes me feel a little less behind the 8 ball.

I must now go be productive on one project or another, so I shall just close with: "Have a poem for a Monday!"

Summer Cottage

by Anne Porter
This is a house
That smells of melons and roses
Sea-wind pours through it
The airy curtains float
And the wiry sprays
Of the sea-lavender
Tremble on the table

The hushed roar
Of the massive ocean
Covers us night and day
It shelters us
Like a tree shadow
We live in it
As in a forest.
