Ah man.....not cool~
Turns out that Asahiya, the only damn Japanese book store in Midtown that allows you to look at magazines will be closing their doors officially Oct 31, 2009. D: it saddens me cause I like Asahiya
- where it's closer to my work place
- they have stuff that Kinos doesn't have (hey gaiz, can i get some Pokemon items that's available in Japan but not ever here?)
- clean environment
- able to skim through magazines before purchasing plus most of their books are like not bent or destroyed in some form of penitence appearance compare to Kinos goers
- in par with Japan's time for distribution; it's Sept in current month but they released the Oct issue in Sept. Kinos release it on the distributing month the magazines says.
- feels homey
- stamps reward card (I heard Kinos use to have it but they chunk that idea out)
- it's quiet compare to Kinos where it's loud and full a weeababies
and
- in my opinion, a much friendlier staff.
They have selections and that Kinos doesn't have. (This is the place where I got my entire Sengoku Basara 2 manga collection!)
Unlike Kinos and that dumb fucking rule they go by for magazines; I wanted to get the previous Dengeki Wii that I missed at Asahiya and they were kindly enough to tell me that it's sold. Hence why I went to Kinos to get it and when I asked them they said that issue isn't shipped out yet. Asahiya get theirs early, so it's in par w/ Japan's time for magazine distribution. Kinos follow the USA distrubution. So I asked them that if the magazine comes in, please have it hold for me and they're like, no we can't do that. But what they can do is wait for a day if no one picks it up than they'll hold it for me. Asahiya didn't do that when the latest issue came in. They immediately hold it for me. Thanks! Now that's service for ya!
Plus most of their merchandise while limited in stock is cheaper and reasonable compare to Kinos overly priced items.
So they're going to be doing a major sales to clear out their inventories from October 1st to the 31st.
