Big Brother is fantastic! You sound like one of those so-called high brow snobs who has never actually seen Big Brother. I'll bet Charlie Brooker really likes it, as this is his second column in a row talking about it.

It is terribly entertaining, and oftentimes really fascinating. By no means is this science, or a controlled experiment, or even a proper reflection of society as a whole, but it amazes me how these people intereact and how their cliques form and how they treat 'outsiders', etc...

Plus Machiavellian manouvering, bitching, back-stabbing, in-fighting, and occasionally questionable romance all combine to make it worth watching.

The 'circus maximus' line is interesting, as last night's eviction was absolutely amazing and the crowd took on what I'd imagine the characteristics of a Roman mob at the Colliseum might have sounded like. You could hear this outrageous chanting through the walls as he was walking up the steps to leave the house, and when he came out, this booming "booo" was overpowering. It sounded a lot like the "oooooh" chanting in Zulu and subsequently Gladiator. Quite a spectacle. And deserving, because he was a right twat.
