Thoughts on Dollhouse, I has them again.

Woot, a Steven DeKnight episode! It's not on the level of 'Deep Down', but without the benefit of 3 seasons worth of set-up, I say it's good enough.

1. I still think Claire is a former Doll.
2. And now I also think that she was cut up but left alive for the same reason as Echo (or at least, for a related reason).
3. It's funny how the whole Alpha debacle taught nothing to those guys: they say and do anything in front of a Doll. Yes, the Reed Diamond character was particularly dense, but Topher and Boyd aren't real subtle either.
4. Am I reading too much in it, or is it implied that before the Alpha massacre the 'neutral' Doll-imprint was less passive and attention-deficient?
5. If so, then the 'blank' state isn't actually a 'clean slate', it's, err, a painted-over slate. Or something. It couldn't be just an empty brain, anyway - Dolls are lucid, capable of speech, have a grasp on fairly abstract concepts, not to mention, capable of movement and coordination =)
6. FBI-guy Ballard, who is your patron? You say you know Dollhouse exists - who told you that, and what proof have you seen? Because you're certainly not Mulder, so you need a reason to go chasing urban legends.
7. Hi random stupidly hopeful neighbor of Ballard! I have no idea what are you doing in this episode. And in this show, really. Please supply reason for character existence, Joss. This girl is even more random than Cordelia in the first episodes of BtVS or Gunn... pretty much most of AtS run.

Also, Mark Sheppard plays the same character on every show I've seen him. He does it well, but... not much of a diverse actor, this Sheppard.

...and I think I need a Dollhouse icon.
