Internship

I have officially completed one week of my internship.  It has been completely awesome so far.  One of my ideas was actually chosen by the creative director to be presented to a client next week.  If it gets chosen it will circulate over 20,000 school in the US.  Hot damn.  I am so floored about this internship.  Everyday was awesome.  Unlike my internship in New York....I feel like I am actually DOING something.  I am getting to sit in on account meetings.  I've been asked to attend and participate in brainstorming meetings with copywriters and art directors alike.  I've helped select voice actors for radio spots.  I've done mock ups of ads for presentations.  I'm learning new things everyday and it is extremely exciting.

I'm really, really interested in the art direction side of advertising, but the more I talk to Steve the more he thinks I'd make a great copywriter.  I'm very conceptual, and I know what I want to see, I just don't have the strongest design background.  I've taken a few project intensive classes, but nothing that would put me on the level with people who have studied four years to go that route.  I do, however, have four years of dynamic writing training through all of my journalism, english, public relations and advertising courses.  It has always been my strong point and I guess it just weirds me out that I could make a living coming up with awesome ideas, putting them to words, and helping someone else make my vision happen.  I definitely want to take more design courses for myself.  I don't know if I will do seminars, or maybe even go to a school for it, but I've always been a jack-of-all-trades and I guess I like to keep it that way.

Anyway, internship=awesome.  Cross your fingers my idea becomes a poster soon!
