Flashpoint- Scorpio

I watched and made notes on this episode, to kind of prod me into fic writing again.  Mostly I have thoughts instead of plots.   Mostly, Sam, you are a cocky moron in the beginning.

Random thoughts on Scorpio )

Sam! Oh boy, yeah, did I want to smack him in this ep (and in a couple of other eps as well ;o)). But it's great to see how much he's grown since Scorpio. I love how he's much more of a team player now and that he actually considers the team to be his family (in Fault Lines - Toth: "Have you ever witnessed any friction within the team?" Sam: "All families have friction."). His obvious looking for approval from Greg in particular is endearing but at the same time it makes me want to find out more about his relationship with his father (which obviously wasn’t good) and I do hope we’ll learn more about his ‘real’ family in season 4. I’d also like to see him interact more with Spike and Wordy (and a little less with Jules, though I have no problem with ‘Jam’), just because I’d like to see a bit more of a friendship there.

Ed and Sophie are a great couple and I really, really hope they can save their marriage. I have to say I find it difficult to reconcile the Sophie from Scorpio with the Sophie from, say, The Other Lane. She was so supportive in the first few seasons (which is why I liked her so much) that I thought it rather out of character that she’d give Ed this ultimatum. But like you, I think it’s very important to Greg that Ed succeeds in his family life, not just for Ed’s sake but for his own as well. It may help him realize that there’s still hope that things will turn out okay for him, too.

It did look like Greg was the only one not drinking a beer and he did seem a little uncomfortable there, though it's hard to say with the focus of that scene being mostly on Ed. I don't think I noticed this before though, so thanks for pointing it out!

I'm not so big on "Jam" but that's because I don't think they're right for each other. Sam needs Jules to need him, and Jules doesn't want to need him. I liked Jules and Steve so much better, because he seemed like a good match for her. I don't hate Sam/Jules, but I think they're better off as friends.

As for Sophie, I kind of want to hand-wave it as pregnacy hormones, but that's too easy. I can buy that she's older and wants more help from him with the baby and she's scared because there have been complications. But I agree, it does seem that they changed her too much.

Oh, I agree with you on Sam and Jules. I don't think they're right for each other either, but I don't really mind seeing them together, if that makes sense. That is, a long as it doesn't take up too much screen time ;o) I've always found friendship much more interesting than romance, so I prefer to see more of that. I want to see more teaminess! :o)

Yes, teaminess! =) The fic will be put on hold, computer contracted a fatal virus. It cannot be resussitated. =( I have no flashpoint episodes to keep me company, it's sad. ;)

No Flashpoint episodes?! *eye twitch* I don't know how you manage! Hope you do have them backed-up somewhere!

Yes, they are backed up! =) As far as I can tell they are all safe. ;) I also found out I can stream them on netflix (most of them, anyway) and they're uncut, so they ahve a bout a minute more than the CBS versions seem to. Nothing important seems to have been cut out, but I'm such a dork that even a few more seconds of flashpoint makes me happy. =D
