Post the first sentence (or three) from every WIP you're currently working on, even if it's very short. Then invite people to ask questions about your WIPs. With any luck, the motivation to take that WIP one step closer to completion will appear as if by magic!
Here's a few of my WIPs, the first paragraph or so.
1. “I'm outta here, Boss,” Ed said from the doorway to the conference room. He watched Greg as he sat at the table, writing reports. When he didn't get a response, he stepped into the room and walked up to the table, standing beside Greg. “Did you hear me? I'm taking off for the night.”
2. “C'mon, pick up, pick up...” Ed muttered, gripping the phone tightly in frustration. He expected to get the answering machine again, and relaxed a bit in surprise when someone answered.
“Hello?”
Ed's brow furrowed at the quiet tone of Joanne's voice. She sounded... scared, almost.
3. Greg sat alone for the moment, drinking his coffee in the booth of the mostly empty restaurant. He scanned the few other patrons, noting the elderly couple a few booths away and the young mother with two young boys sitting at a table across the dining room. He wasn't sure if being here at this time was a good thing or not.
4. She stood in front of the fridge, debating. She'd had some drinks at the retirement party, but the beer in the fridge looked good right now. What the hell, she thought, and grabbed another bottle. I'd been a few hours since she'd been home, anyway.
