It's been a very long time, dear livejournal. I see you've collected e-dust on your pages; perhaps you think I have abandoned you. Fear not! I have not done so. Rather, I have simply ignored you, as my current life consists of very ignorable things. Things like neuro, which as my title indicates, I am presently ignoring.
I'm writing a screenplay, and it is not going well. I have written one script in my life, and it is for an as-of-yet theoretical film to be made by my brothers and me... someday. I found it to be a very rewarding medium, but being the long-winded pontificator I can be, I end up describing the scenery far too much to actively convey the information necessary to the progress of the film. I suppose, since I naturally assumed no one would want to make-- or even really understand-- the script I've written, I didn't feel the need to make sure the walls were adequately described. However, the dialogue in all of my writing has always been a bit weak, as I've been relatively unable to create a person other than myself in my writing. I guess it was a good exercise in that regard, since the script I have actually finished is a sequel to a full-length movie my brothers and I made way back in 2004, and so the characters actually have personalities created by people other than my brain.
School is rough. In March I have to take part 1 of the US Medical Licensing Exam, which is more intimidating than the MCAT, which stands for "M-hell on Earth-CAT". Sigh. It is so easy to get wrapped up in all of the doctor bullshit, which is frustrating to me, if only for the reason that I hate being intellectually confined. I miss Richard III and my College Libertarians, and I miss writing for the newspaper (and all the hate mail! oh how I miss the hate mail). I submitted some work to the Case literary magazine, but have no idea if it will be published, and even if it is, have no idea where to obtain copies of it.
I still have no idea what specialty I want to do. Radiation Oncology would probably be my choice (they use linear accelerators on a daily basis, and being the junior Ghostbuster that I am, am goddamned excited by linear accelerators), but the Navy just closed down the training positions in that (for now, anyway). So maybe I'll do medical oncology? Bleh, much more droll.
All I know is, I am excited for X-giving. My brothers and I are hosting Man Night, which will be characterized by expensive cigars, even more expensive cognac, fine cheese, and suits. Marvelous.
