There are a lot of cases I can understand even politicians not knowing about in details (I only know about Marbury v Madison because I'm married to a lawyer), but I am honestly kind of agog that Palin couldn't come up with at least Brown v Board. Not being able to think of that case, for a fairly educated person, strikes me as just beyond bizarre. A "what planet do you live on?" kind of moment...
Or even Griswold v Connecticut, which I'd expect she'd know since so many hard-core anti-choice people are also anti-conception.
On a completely different note, I have to cram some serious Russian in the next two months. You wouldn't have any website/book/tips to recommend, would you?
Umm... Trying to think. I tried working Коммерсантъ (www.kommersant.ru) into my daily newspaper reading and I watched the news and other stuff on russiantvonline.com ($10/mo subscription). That's what I did working up to my Wharton/Lauder interview for Russian.
I can understand how it would be hard to pull out names and dates and such on the spot, but still. Yikes.
