We borrowed a van from a friend to evacuate to Baton Rouge to stay with my friend Ari and his girlfriend. The van was parked legally outside, but Bush decided to do a drive thru of Baton Rouge and tow all the cars on the street to make room for his entourage (when there was plenty of room already). Now we're stuck paying 200 bucks which we may or may not get back later (if we can get the van back at all without the owner coming to Baton Rouge himself from Dallas, where he evacuated to). So now a herd of people are calling the police about their cars when people with REAL emergencies are trying to get through.
I can't imagine how many New Orleans evacuees are stuck without cars now, not to mention all the would-be Baton Rouge evacuees who can't leave now when most of the city is going to be without power for weeks and they have no car.
