I would not presume to be as familiar about anatomy as a doctor is required to be, but even with my limited knowledge, I believe that one can survive losing an extraneous appendage. With the proper medical supervision, of course.

Yeah, these "extra appendiges" are kinda special, though. This whole place is special. I mean, think about it: how'd ya get here? Dunno. Why can't anybody leave? Dunno. Why do you die if you cut off the wings? Dunno. All I know's don't try it, that's all.
