[One can’t exactly call what Spock is doing as hiding so much as preserving his space, but it’s readily visible to anyone caring to look for him that he is very much barricaded in his current house

Huh. Well. I'm from the early 21st Century, Earth, Japan.
Don't you think it would be a bad idea for anyone to advertise if they brought something unusual with them, or had something unusual? There are folks here that wanna experiment on us.
Not all equipment is considered unusual or harmful. As a scientist, it is inevitable that I am curious about foreign technology. Furthermore, I would not object to a physical meeting with these people, should they desire it.
I'm sayin' when there's hostile people out there, it's no good going around advertising the fact you might have something people want.
I mean, I'm already an oddity 'cause I've got no wings. Why would I risk telling you anything else and make myself look like a good specimen? You might be just like scientists back home.
I do not concur. An oddity suggests that you are one of a few, a situation that is not currently true. I do not know why it is possible for you to remain here, but it is probable that the ones responsible have little to no control over this event.
And I assure you, my primary function as a scientist is to observe.
Couldn't ya just say you disagree? [If only you could see the withering look you are receiving.]
Yeah, I'm sure your 'primary' function is to observe, but it's what comes of your reports that's kind of a big deal to me. Not that I'd be against it if my presence could somehow help everyone - including me - get out of here, but... it's just as likely to get used to make a satellite that blasts cities from space, or a killer android, or an artificial life form.
So what I'm saying is, how can I trust that you won't do that?
