Damn School Board!
Back in November I called the school board and argued with the woman on the other end of the phone about changing my name on my transcripts and obtaining copies. She told me she was transferring me to her boss and transferred me to someone's voicemail. That person was NOT her boss and worked in homeschooling. In December I took certified copies of my name change, birth certificate and social security card and gave the copies to the woman who worked in student services and records. She told me she would take them to Legal and that Legal would get back to me after the first of the year. Well yesterday I got a phone call from the school board. It was the same woman I've talked to every time (she's even seen me, facial hair and all). When I answered the phone, she asked for me by my birth name. I was pissed. I told her no one lives here by that name and that that name has been changed. She said, yes I know. Ms. (Insert last name that was changed) you went to school under this name so we won't be able to change your transcripts. I told her that that was ridiculous. I tried to explain that I was going to need these papers for school in Sweden, that I was going to hand them a passport with my current and only name on it, a birth certificate with the same name, a social security card, a visa, a resident permit and application for school all with the same name but my transcripts and diploma will show this other name that hasn't been used in years and still never felt right. Its bullshit! AND the fact that this woman refused to call me the correct name makes me think that this is personal. That this woman never really did anything with my paperwork and made up her mind from the beginning. So Monday I'm calling the affirmative action attorney at the school board and getting this shit fixed.
