National Treasure: Book of Secrets

So, I saw National Treasure: Book of Secrets this today. I thought it was good. Not the best movie I’ve EVER seen but entertaining. As a sequel, it was surprisingly good. Me and several others I saw it with thought it was even better than the original (maybe less plausible). Of course, I don’t remember the first that well as I only saw it one time but I remember liking it ok. If you haven't seen the movie I don't reccommend seeing the trailer - it give too many good moments (and a plot point or two) away.

I liked:
-Riley. His quips, interaction with others, conspiracy theories, I just love him. Remind anybody of a certain Daniel Jackson? (reminds me a tad of Logan on Dark Angel as well).
-Ben kidnapping the President. Heh.
-Abby. I hate, hate, hate when a character conveniently drops out of a sequel when he/she had just gotten together with a character in the first movie (Karate Kid anyone? The Librarian: Quest for the Spear? Etcetera). At first I thought they’d done the same with Abby after the beginning of the movie (with Ben moving out) but was happily surprised.
-Did I mention Riley?
-The treasure wasn’t ‘covered over’ and they actually got to revel in the discovery (ok, I think that happened in the first movie as well, but still pretty unusual for these kinds of movies).

Not so much:
-The really obvious wheel to open/shut off the water towards the end of the movie. It was just sitting there - my friend and I were like “the way out is right there!” Abby was practically staring at it.
-The whole creaky wooden treasure trove ‘oh no, we’re trapped in!’ thing seemed really similar to the last movie (though the golden city with all the water was really cool. *coughatlantiscough*).

I actually didn’t dislike a lot of this movie. Sure, there was some stuff I didn’t LOVE but there wasn’t a lot I actually disliked.

movie, review
