Thoughts while watching: - Great job Stefan & Klaus. You’ve effectively set Jeremy on a path to be suspicious of ALL vampires. - I would feel a little…hesitant…if some weird guy I barely knew had the power to actually hypnotize me. He could be suggesting ANYTHING Bonnie! C’mon now! - Oh, if the hunter’s really dead…does that Jeremy is the new hunter? *Called it! [minor 4x06 spoiler...which you've prob already figured out from the 4x06 promo...] - Hallucinations starting? - “Consequences” So the hallucinations are because she killed a hunter? Ok, I can get on board with that.
Thoughts after watching: - I like that Damon (and eventually Elena) was able to tell something was up with Stefan. - Though Elena implied she killed the Hunter just as Damon told her to do, he most certainly DID try to talk her out of going on her mission. Once she’d decided to go, of course he’s going to tell her whatever she needs to do to be safe. - Speaking of the Hunter dying…I really loved the twists and turns in this episode. I did not foresee Elena killing him (at least, right then). I think it’s really “right” that they had her first kill be a “bad guy.” Yes, she killed someone, but she was trying to protect her friends and family. I’m also glad they didn’t drag out the Stefan/Klaus secret thing. - Not a huge Damon/Elena episode, but they had some screentime together (and the episode itself was more interesting than I’d anticipated so I didn’t mind terribly). I liked that Damon called Stefan out on his reasons for finding the cure (whether that’s true or not) and made a point of saying he loved her either way (I think he said loved? Something along those lines…). Unlike Stefan implied earlier, Damon loves her whoever (whatever?) she is…NOT just as a vampire. I was glad they made a point of that, and not the Elena’s-only-a-good-match-for-Damon-as-a-vampire crap. - Also, meant say that Stefan looking for cure because he feels like owes Elena for letting her die makes a lot more sense than him doing it just for her because she can't handle being a vampire. (And it's definitely both.) - Matt and Jeremy getting April to put on the vervain bracelet amused me. (Though I don’t see what they didn’t just TELL her while she was a hostage. She’d be a lot safer that way).
