actual update! holy crap!

hi! i have a job. i sort of have my dream job. it's kind of awesome.  i'm the new program assistant for africa for the international women's health coalition.  which means, in the short version, that i spend my days trying to improve sexual and reproductive health and rights in africa.  in the long version, i spend a lot of time reading grant proposals, writing memos, translating things, and collecting resources for organizations on the ground in nigeria and cameroun.  and, because iwhc is expanding in southern and francophone africa, i also get to spend some time researching potential new partners in those areas.  basically, this job RULES.

in more practical concerns, this means that i am committed to being based in new york for the next two years or so, although i will definitely get to travel some with this job.  so for right now i'm still subletting in my old apartment in prospect heights, and will be looking to settle into something more permanent in august.  if you know anyone...

my travel schedule for the summer involves a week-long trip to alaska (where someone very special is getting married in july) and a weekend jaunt to michigan (where someone very special is getting married in september).  i'll also get half-days on fridays during the summer, so i'll be looking to plan weekend trips.  again, if anyone has any ideas...
