so, uh, it appears Facing New York is back in action? seriously i'm so excited right now i'm crying a little. and i think the only reason the tears stopped building up before it became full-fledged is because my brain got all plan-y and it made the emotions slow down. wow ( Read more... )

Uhhh. This is weird but I'm actually already going to be in SoCal on the 14th, at a family thing in South Pasadena. So I can't help you get to or from, but if you could come get me, I'm in?

SWEET. then unless ariel wants to drive down with me i will totally fly to you (or thereabouts). only lame thing is, i just looked at tickets for the shows and they're not headlining, they're just opening for Dredg. so hopefully those guys rock? i've never heard their music that i remember, though i do know the name. whatevs totally worth it.

eeeeeeeee fnyyyyyyyyy :DDDDDDDDDDDDDDD

oh gross. I think I saw Dredg at like my second show ever and they were shitty metal. I don't think it's worth it to fly down for that.

well the gamh guy says this:

With a body built on growling, hard-hitting, straight-up rock, and incorporating elements of pop, operatic vocals, haunting piano accompanyment, celtic lilts, tibetan bowls, and scratchy voice-over samples, Dredg at times embodies the energy of punkrock and still posesses the powerful, graceful makings of a movie score. Only The Mars Volta, it seems, can compare in terms of the abandon with which these men create. This band has such a unique soul and style that one can't honestly put walls up around them. And perhaps that is a good thing.

i don't know The Mars Volta's music either (though i seem to remember a lot of Matches fans being super into them), but i'm thinking maybe this is not the same band you didn't dig. i dunno. i'm gonna check them out but i'm still obsessing over show tickets so i haven't gotten to that step yet. :P

I was so excited last week when I looked and there was actually a show in the near future in norcal (not one that just happened or only far away... which is usually what happens when I remember to check in)

Totally. So much less hipsters at GAMH.

i almost never login to myspace these days, but since fny has kind of been using theirs i have checked it every several days or so, and tonight i was shocked to actually see shows. i wonder why they always do socal first and then up here, when they're from here? maybe they want to be home at the end of everything. i dunno.

yeah, and the place itself is so beautiful, whereas slim's is just a big cold square and the stage is too high. gamh is one of my favorite venues. <3
