Thinking about Lois tonight

Feb 01, 2011 19:58

From my archive of old posts (almost all marked "private" now), I found, and made public, the first one I see which mentioned my friend Lois (lotus82), and to which she replied:

Prayer for friendsHard to believe - that post was over seven years ago. It's an odd thing that happens, caring about someone whose "days are numbered"; as time goes on, and the ( Read more... )

OMG, Ellen. *points to new default icon*

No, honest to God, I did NOT pick that out after I read this.

I know that we go back some time with that icon, because I have loved Madeleine L'Engle's "Patrick's Rune" since before LiveJournal existed, but I don't remember now which one of us found this set of icons first. Either way, it still speaks to me.

I found this icon first and then you went hunting for the set. I lifted it off an LJ friend at the time. I too have loved "Patrick's Rune" since childhood, honestly, since that's when I ran across the Madeleine L'Engle books. As you probably know by now, I incorporated it into a recent Lois post.

I updated my post with Jordan Levy's translation of the second interview.

It's a strange irony that now, with Lois on the edge between life and death, I have just found out that my former pastor has a new congregation in town, so tomorrow I will be at church again, for the first time in quite a while. I have been struggling about praying for Lois, since my faith has been pretty much absent from my life for some time now. All things in their time, I suppose - but even though I know that we must lose Lois eventually, I still want to postpone the inevitable.

Right now, I am emotionally in the place where I feel we're going to lose her, and struggling with that. I don't honestly believe she'll make it. But there's another part of me that says, "Prove me wrong, Lois, prove me wrong!" I'll be oh so happy if the miracle does happen because I miss her terribly. I am praying for her and I know the prayers will go towards whatever use God chooses to make of them.

I am encouraged you're finding a church because I know you have struggled with faith for a long time now. I hope this church will be a resting place for your weary heart and soul. *hugs*

Thank you. I think you already have. That Higher Power we choose to call God is working through all of us, including you. :-)
