This is a fairly old piece, with a few modern additions & revisions... that as usual holds something very close to my heart... as with most of my work it can be taken a few different ways... nonetheless enjoy...
"Fabricated Alienation"
by: Davey Harlequin, copyright 2002, 2004
silent there lying as the darkness surrounds you
too afraid to wake up
for fear that you're dreaming again
will the blissful glimmer fade?
and will the love yet again evade you?
right before you even get a taste
for all the world's a stage
and your cursed eyes behold it
but when deception is intangible
have you any right to scold it?
and you shun what thinks you golden
you persue what thinks you coal
and you'll find yourself helpless
just another petty lost soul
you're a tool to their fortunes
soon to be obsolete
you await your reward
but you dare never speak
patience is a virtue
that never lasts very long
so where does it leave you?
where you've been all along
bitter and angry without explaination
all alone in your fabricated alienation
unseen, unheard, you cry out your wasted name
nothing special in the eyes of those who matter
you'll never quite be the same.
so take your empty dreams
and lock them in your vault
and realize this open hole
is really your own fault.
