Autumn Concert

I went to the Autumn Concert in St Anne's church in town this afternoon. It was a rather unusual joint presentation between the Highley Colliery Band -- established in 1993, 25 years after the actual colliery closed! -- and the visiting Pearl of Africa Choir from Uganda. It was a very good show, and the contrasting styles went quite well together. Unfortunately, it was much too long at 3½ hours, and several families drifted off well before the end. This also led to quite a few changes in the second half, making the programmes rather useless! Still, despite the overrun, it wasn't at all bad value for £6.
