So I don't post anymore, or not very much. And when I do post, is it for an epic life update? No, the only real updates I have are (01) I'm temporarily a professor, (02) I bought Frye boots, and (03) I don't even have a third thing. Oh, (03) can be that I saw Inception. Really, I am just here to post that Harry Potter meme, because I can't help it ( Read more... )

harry potter is my personal canon

:D I STILL HAVE MY HARRY/BLAIR YULE BALL FIC SOMEWHERE. Sigh, I really adore everything about Gossip Girl Goes to Hogwarts. If I had my way you'd write like ten thousand chapters. OR HAVE AN ~RPG~

HAHAHAHA djsafkj omg the reason I abandoned LJ in the first place was because I got sucked up into the world of IJ roleplay and it + school ate my life. And over the months~ I've ended up playing a multitude of characters, both from HP and GGrl, and I SWEAR TO GOD, every now and then I am like: why does a game for GGrl Goes To Hogwarts not exist, I WOULD PAY SOMEONE TO START THIS!!!

IT IS MADDENING HOW MUCH I WANT TO PLAY IN THIS RPG

of course the drawback to having one would be that I'd want to play ALL THE CHARACTERS, and would probably be a tad disgruntled by other people's portrayals of them, but dsjfkajdf even that doesn't overwhelm the wanting :(

I am still sitting her imagining how awesome this would be.

- Nate crosses things out a lot. The excuse he uses for this is "spelling mistakes" which almost everyone buys.
- Blair checks her journal compulsively and has lots of private posts where she posts about off-handed comments other people made and what they could mean. Also: to-do lists, ordered lists of things she ate that day, for a period of time, lots and lots of filters to Serena, etc.
- Dan has seven million unsent owls to Serena.
- Before the Yule Ball, Chuck makes a public journal post with a ~form letter that prospective dates should fill out and owl to him.
- GOSSIP GIRL IS ACTUALLY DIARY!TOM!!!!1!!1

I always feel weird about RPGs, and I've played in some, that have all these private posts or owls to individuals, because my first and most loyal game was NA (and seventynine) and I am so used to that style (the journals explained as a project or whatever, everything public in them). I was looking over POSTGOSSIPGIRLISM but I just can't get into that style of everything being RPed on LJ? I don't know, I'm weird like that. But man, GG/Hogwarts RP would be seriously amazing.

I've never done a game on LJ before! Trufax: only being able to have 15 icons after being able to have 100 on IJ/GJ/CJ (I HAVE BEEN ON A LOT OF DIFFERENT PLATFORMS) makes me twitch. In the HP games I've been in, the journals are just sort of There. NO ONE ASK HOW IT HAPPENED, IT JUST IS!!!, that sort of thing. And then you can ~ward~ things to individuals, or groups of individuals, as like a more effective way of communicating. AND THEN THE NON-JOURNAL PORTIONS, OF COURSE.

ALTHOUGH, tbh, I play in more non-HP games, where technology exists, and therefore the journals are an online network. Most times I play HP, I do it in private storylines, so the majority of the writing, if not all of it, is thread/log-based and not journal-based. I DO STALK QUITE A FEW HP GAMES THOUGH, SO I CONSIDER MYSELF RELATIVELY ~IN THE KNOW~.

Yeah, that's what I mean, that the trend is more towards comprehensive RP with published logs and warded messages or exchanges, but I grew up on NA and still love the sort of . . . reading between the lines necessary in that game. Sigh, NA!

And re: Slytherin, well, Slytherin is where all the action happens, after all!

I have actually never heard of NA before now! What was it about/who did you play/etc.??

My love for playing Slytherins and Purebloods knows no bounds.

Ahaha, I was never in NA, I was just a very loyal follower. (And most of the players' identities are still more or less secret, at least to the general public, which I feel makes NA kind of special.) It ran from 2002 to 2004, and the community is here, though the fan community nraged has more useful information, and used to be the home of lots of beautiful speculation and analysis. It was a rather big deal in fandom, mostly H/D fandom (?), at that early to middle fandom time, and remains precious in my memory! I think this is the post for the online read-through, though someone created a downloadable offline version. The early few months of NA were wobbly in terms of characterization, at least compared to how solid the universe became in the last few years. But it really was a universe shared by many for years and years, and I miss it daily, as I know many other fans of NA do too :((

dajfkldsajfkl A FAN COMM OMFG. This is so surreal because I've followed quite a few games I was too chicken to actually apply to, which I rambled on about to one of my friends at IJ, and she mentioned that fan communities used to exist for some games at LJ and I was like THAT IS SO AWESOME AND ALSO SURELY A MYTH but dsajfksajdf here is the proof!! IN THE FLESH.

Proof indeed! There was a tiny fan community for seventynine, the only other RPG I really loved and followed diligently, but the game was very short-lived anyway. There was fan art for NA also! And NA players/mods would come to nraged and give gold stars for correct theories posited about what certain comments and conversations meant. Ah, those were the days.
