Everyone Says 'Hi'

I've never had a song do that to me before.

I was listening to Bowie's album Heathen a minute ago, and one of the songs, Everyone Says 'Hi,' played. It's only about the third time I've heard the song, and only really the first time I'd really listened. It is a beautiful song ( Read more... )

Wow, Eric this post made me cry, actually I am still crying. It touched me. I miss grandma as well. I think about her alot. But as you said.. I only remember her from photographs. And I can only hear her voice sometimes. Mainly because of a tape that I once had that she sang her imfamous "Grandma's Special Baby" song on it. After she died I constantly listened to that and cried myself to sleep at night. Sometimes I still cry myself to sleep. Which I know is a loserish thing to do. But I just miss her so much. I sometimes wonder what she would be like now. I wonder if me and her would be close. I wish the same things you wish. That she would be here for my graduation, to see me grow up, to see my wedding, my children, etc. But she's not. Hopefully she is watching all of us from Heaven. I just really wish she would be there tomorrow night to watch me walk across the stage and recieve my diploma. Oh well.. I know she is still watching over me. I love you!

I always cry to songs. I guess that's just how I am. I haven't heard much from Heathen, but it seems alright. I still like old-school Bowie better :}

Mr. Hobbit and I talked about Bowie once, and about the concert at The Fox. Glad you could go. I read the earlier entry, and it sounds amazing.

Does it replay in your head? That usually happens to me with concerts.

All the Young Dudes replayed in my head quite a bit, yeah. Other than that... Hrm. There's a couple of songs, but particularly that one. (Seriously, I have no way to describe the way that moment made me feel. It was absolutely unbelieveable.)

Oh yeah: as for new school vs. old school Bowie, I like pretty much his whole catalog. The only ones I own are Ziggy Stardust, Diamond Dogs, and Earthling, though I'm going to buy Heathen and probably Reality before I go to college. I'm also sort of cycling my way through his other albums lately, so I might pick them up as well. (In particular, I might buy "Heroes," if only for the title track.)

If I had to pick a favorite album, it'd probably be Earthling. Overall, though, I guess I do lean towards his older stuff.
