I don't usually have recurring (or even memorable) dreams, but I've been having one the past few nights that kind of bothers me...
Basically the setup is that I and some other people (I don't think they're that relevant, as they pretty much disappear soon afterwards and don't really show up again; it's
skeezoyd and my aunt, weirdly) are running around a garden or something like it. At some point we realize it's dangerous and the only way out is to try and cut through these sewers. However, when each of us try to go through them, we are confronted with a monster of some kind; one is this giant toothy worm thing, another a big lizard, and, most importantly here, one is a very large black dog. The black dog is clearly my monster.
I don't remember how we get from the entrance of the black dog to the next part, but the next part is the recurring part. Somehow I get back to my parents' house, only to find that the black dog has moved in with me and is lurking throughout the house. Nobody else sees the black dog, or, if they do, seems to assume it is Amy (my actual dog, who is very sweet.) The black dog is not a good creature, and frequently I find myself in actual physical struggle with it. The black dog does not bite me, though it sometimes latches on with its teeth and doesn't let go; however, it is more insistent on not going away than it is on actively hurting me or destroying anything. However, it is not removable, and I clearly know it is a Bad Thing to keep around. At one point I have the Black Dog grappled and I start yelling for help, knowing there are people outside (my parents and others), but nobody hears me yelling.
At one point- the point at which I woke up just now- there were two Amy Dogs, one inside the house and one outside the house. One of them was, I thought, actually the black dog; I think I may have proved it, because when I grabbed it, it barked and did not sound like Amy.
I'm not sure why this dream bothers me, but it does (perhaps because it's happened twice now), and I can't make heads or tails of it...
