I'm a little suprised to say it, but it's actually turning out to be a fairly productive summer.

Let's see. On Sunday, I met some new people at my friend Kelly's D&D game, all of whom seemed to be cool and gregarious, and not terribly annoyed by me. (Some of them told me truly terrible jokes.) I also played my first half-orc barbarian, who is, it should be said, actually a really cool character. He has a level of Sorcerer as well, so he can pull off some interesting stunts. (Going into a fight with Bull's Stength, Enlarge Person, and Rage on at the same time is amazingly good times- 30 Strength, bitches!)

I'm about 4,000 words deep into DEMON part X, "Shrieker," which is shaping up to be a really interesting addition to the story. Here's a teaser: none of the story takes place in Citadel, and Argen only appears in flashbacks. (It's the first story to be written that way- even in "Checkmate," which was mostly about Gareth Zane, there was a scene or two from Argen's point of view.) And of course, it leads directly into the big two part finale to the series (at least for now), "Demons and Angels."

I'm a little behind on it, but I'm doing some research into the hero's quest this summer, which mostly consists of watching/reading relevant material (starting with Homer and heading towards Clint Eastwood's Man with No Name) and perusing "The Hero With A Thousand Faces," which I swear I'll finisht his time.

Finally, and probably most suprising, I've decided to take somewhat better care of myself. I've been going to the YMCA three times a week for a couple of weeks now, mostly doing the treadmill. I've also cut way back on soda; I'm not giving it up cold turkey, as I tried back in freshman year (I think), but I've gone done to maybe one a day. Now I'm mostly on water, which is kind of boring, but it's okay. And I think I'm losing a few pounds, so that's good.

Yarr. My life, though often exciting to experience, seems dangerously boring in the transcription. This is why I write fiction.
