I was just listening to an interview with Boris Büchler and apparentely he knew that he was out of the team but didn't want to say anything.

how is it odd? the game wasn't being held in his honour.
he's been a huge part of the team for more than 10 years and he's one of the best midfielders this team has had. personally i think the whole situation was handled terribly and he deserved much more respect than what he was given. he was the person who got a lot of people interested in the german NT so really, asking everyone to "move on" is ridiculous, have any of your favourite players retired on such a bad note? if they have, then you'd understand why this is a big deal to people.
