Christmas is here
Ho ho ho :)
Christmas is here, and Im here as well, because boss of department allowed me to stay away from work today to kill overhours. And yesterday big boss gave me also a nice surprise ;)
Well, we have White - but melting - Christmas here! Its looks nice, but not as nice as last weekend (pictures available upon request). Sometimes its good to live 800 metres above sealevel :)
On Monday Im back at work, Ill also work on 31st, but that's no biggie. Need to get rid of some projects before my vacation starts 4th January. On 5th January my plane leaves for Warszawa, and I won't be back before the 23rd :) Ech :)
So strange - plane from here to Warszawa and back costs 130 €. Train from here to Berlin (one way) costs already 111 €, and Im still not in Warszawa. Bus to Vilnius would have cost 115 € both ways, but the timetable was not very suitable for me. So I chose the plane, even if Im not the biggest fan of those things.
But for those who like planes, you can really have cheap trips nowadays, if you book early enough (6 to 8 weeks). For example Finland - Southern Germany for 60 € (both ways), or also from and to the Baltic Countries or to Scandinavia. If you need help, let me know :)
A bit more about my trip?
Well, Warszawa, Vilnius and Bialystok are definite stops. But of course also other places in Lithuania, like Kaunas, Klaipeda and Kuringa neringa are very likely. Im very flexible and will do what I feel like doing. Bought a very good guidebook so I will find a place to stay basically everywhere. Only in Vilnius I stay "private", while I cancelled my "private" stay in Kaunas. Prefer to stay in Litinterp B&B as well.
I hope to meet some friends from further East in Lithuania, but as it seems now I chose a bad date, and the strict visa regulations which kept me out of Russia, Belarus and Ukraine so far, keep them out of the Baltics now.
Naja, would have liked a trip to Kaliningrad as well, but didn't here anything from there.
Now I just have to keep my weight down, so I can enjoy the treasures of the Polish and Lithuanian. I get weak when I think back to the cafes of Kaunas, the restaurant in Vilnius and Gruto parkas, the fish place in Poland etc :)
Naja, we will see how it goes :)
I do not worry, because I know where the "Heart of Europe" is beating pure and good :)
