InsaneJournal
I don't pay a lot of attention to the world but I've noticed there's a bit of a kerfuffle in fandom over the problems at Livejournal. Quite a lot of the fanfic authors whose work I enjoy have mentioned creating new journals on which to post their work, so I've decided to create an InsaneJournal for myself, just in case Livejournal goes tits up and I can't access fanfic anymore.
I'm hoping that LJ doesn't die off; it's been my introduction into fandom and over the last 2.5 years I've got a great deal of enjoyment from the fanficcers, vidders, and artists who post their creative work on LJ. I had no idea quite how important to the development of online fandom LJ had been until I did some reading around on Fanlore and now that I have a better appreciation of this I want to make sure that I can continue to participate if the fandoms I enjoy move to locate themselves elsewhere :)
So, now I'm loddlaen on InsaneJournal as well. I might look into creating an account under this name other journal sites too. If LJ does die then I'm hoping that eventually the majority of fen within SGA and SPN fandoms will settle on a new alternative and that my 'holding' journal accounts will come in useful at that stage.
