The Corniche

I left Qatar with a very bad impression of its inhabitants. The number of adjectival words and phrases I could heap upon them is not worth my time and effort.
This is the corniche, the supposed heart of the city of Doha. Recent oil and property boom in the economy is fueling the pace of urbanisation within this small country. Unfortunately, the Qatari have very little taste and common sense. They try to build these buildings with no foresight nor proper infrastructural support. Apparently when I arrived, a fire had broken out on one of the buildings, and due to the fact that the Qatari do not have the capacity to fire-fight on high-rise structures, the flames continued till another building caught fire. Needless to say, the Qatari are fast becoming victims of their own hubris. I pray to God that the whole place does not sink into the sea under the weight of their arrogance and hubris.
