An awkward tumble and a shy goodbye.

In the darkness I turned, and i opened my eyes to see you sleeping all so quietly. Your dimpled cheeks puffed up all so gently as you breathe the night away. Slowly, softly, quietly, I lifted your arm that you conveniently draped around me, and put it by your side. You startled for a bit, and then settled down to sleep the dreams you dreamed. I took a moment to drink in the sight of you, with all your cares worn away by night's gentle kiss. I hesitated for a while, and then I leaned over to kiss your lips.

I pulled myself out of the bed, put on my clothes, and slowly, softly, quietly, I turned the knob to open the room. The corridor lights rushed in, like a relentless wave that disdainfully casts the shores. I blinked, once, twice, and as my eyes readjusted, i grabbed by bag that stood forlornly by the door, cast aside when our friendly banter turned to passion play. I turned to your sleeping form, and heaved a gentle sigh.

Slowly, softly, quietly, I walked through the door, out of the room, and out of your life.

Amidst all the insanity, I am grateful to have been given the opportunity to re-affirm not one, but two friendships. Although my path is set, I am glad I walk in grace with good company.
