Okay, so my room is back to something vaguely resembling something livable and clean again. So, first major goal for the month of January is now completed, halfway. The second half of that involves maintaining said cleanliness, which I have had a terrible time doing in the past. However, the scrawl I wrote on my whiteboard list of shit to accomplish this month says, very specifically, "clean and maintain." So in the interest of gaining much needed XP in accomplishing shit that I've set out to do, I'm going to keep this fucker clean. If I can do it for a month, I gain a level and a much needed +1 to my self-confidence stat. That'll make me happy.
Yes, this sort of thing is now going to be peppered with esoteric RPG references and other geeky shit, because one of the coolest things I read in Chris Hardwick's book The Nerdist Way was the notion of imagining my life as if I were a game designer, and as an avid D&D nerd, this sort of thing really kind of appealed to me. I'm good at designing and running D&D games. So, logic dictates that if I can apply that mindset to the day to day drivel that I absolutely fucking HATE doing, transforming it from tedium into something to look forward to, treat my own life like a D&D game (minus magic, elves, slaying goblins, orcs, and gnolls by the score, and scoring loot), I might be able to accomplish something good here.
Well, it's worth a shot.
Been listening to a metric fuckton of AC/DC lately. Not quite sure why, other than I need desperately to go through my massive collection of music and I'm tired of listening to metal and prog right now. And AC/DC is just....vell, AC/DC's just zis band, you know (YES! Hitchhiker's Guide reference!!!)? Good old fashioned down and dirty rock and roll just feels good.
Well, now it's off to get back to some light gaming. Still slogging through Grandia, but now I'm actually working on getting through the game some more before yet another massive bout of level grinding. So.....later!
