My latest amazon.com order just came in, and with it something exceedingly rare... a CD I actually paid for. Now, if ever I can help it, I try to download songs off of Limewire or someplace, but in this case I couldn't find the album online and I really wanted to listen to it, so... I got a copy of Evanescence's Anywhere But Home live album (it came with a tour dvd too, which is nice). That means in the last, maybe, seven years I've purchased maybe five cds, three of which from Evanescene (the others are from Garbage, the Metallica S&M concert, Jagged Little Pill, and a Henry Rollins spoken word album). Compare that to the at least four DVDs a month (I just got 300, another copy of Cube, and a Hellboy animated movie) and about the same amount of books (
The World Without Us, Newcomer's Handbook for Seattle, and Leaving Campus and Going to Work).
The sad thing is, I have over 800 songs just on this computer, which I only got at Xmas. I can only hope the R I A A doesn't find out about this...
Edit: in retrospect, it seems my musical taste runs towards vaguely bitter rock chicks, heavy metal with violin accompaniment, and large guys who can kick my ass spouting observational humor...
