No-One Can See Your Tears In The Pouring Rain
Hi, this one-shot from Leon’s POV is based on Merlin series 3 rumours. Skip the rumour here if you don't wish to see it: ‘-There some nice Arthur and Gwen scenes in the first episode. Sir Leon knows of Arthur's feelings and during Cenred's attack he promises Arthur he won't let Gwen be hurt. ‘

The pouring rain. Everybody’s always moaning about it particularly old women with nothing else to do other than to do their embroidery ‘Ooh, the weather today! Horrible isn’t it Marge’ I used to be one of those people. One of those people who couldn’t fully appreciate one of the wonders of life. One of those people who only pick out something’s or somebody’s negative points without even considering the positives. One of those people who were blind to the unsung hero that was staring them right into their very soul. One of those people who believed miracles were lies. Miracles like the prince and the handmaiden and that was when I changed. That was when I began to see how beautiful the rain really was.

During Cenred’s first footsteps towards the call of war, many men no matter who they were, were sent to fight including the prince who was to lead them into battle not only a battle proving their strength but also a battle of wills and those began to surface not only for the men but the prince as well. I was one of the few that were left behind in Camelot in case of an attack on the city. I would never have thought that one day I would be protecting the future queen. Guinevere.
As the soldiers began to leave towards the painful cry of war I noticed Arthur and his manservant, Merlin patiently just standing there as if they were waiting for someone in the pouring rain as the men marched on, nearly all out of the city by now and heading towards Cenred’s kingdom. Surely, they should have been on their way as well as Arthur was the one who was going to lead it but still he did not budge. Then she came.
By now the courtyard was empty except for the prince, his manservant, and myself hiding in the dark shadows of the alcoves sheltering from the pouring rain.... and the flash of purple. The purple cloaked, hooded figure moved towards Arthur and Merlin as Arthur finally settled down but still sombre. The stranger’s hood fell to reveal Gwen, Morgana’s maidservant underneath. At first I thought she was going to bid Merlin farewell and show her affections for him as many wives and sweethearts of those going into battle had done before. Apparently the two of them had had a brief relationship in the past but then why was Arthur still waiting there? The question was ringing in my head and then it was answered as soon as she fell into his arms whilst he held on as tightly as he could knowing he may not be able to see her again after this.
She was gripped in his arms whilst his chin was rested on the top of her head as Merlin overlooked the couple, his eyes full of worry. Arthur lightly kissed her forehead not wanting to let go but he knew he had to. So letting go of her and him and Merlin setting off with their horses to catch up with the army he left her on the cobbled floor of the courtyard of Camelot, emotion seeping up into the surface. I did not see their tears in the pouring rain.
Hope you enjoyed it and I’ll love every single one of you who read this if you comment! :)
